A picture

This is my current favorite picture of the boys. I have it on my phone as all the wallpapers, I have it at my desk, right in front of me so I see it every time I look up for my computer.

These are my crazy little boys, who will grow up to be amazing men someday.

Confession: This is totally the photo I hope they recreate when they are older...

2016: It's Already October

As always, I'm not writing as much as I want to or should be. As always, I start the year of with good intentions & then quickly it's the holidays & I've already lost some of the memories I would like to capture.

Grayson lost his second tooth this week. He is so happy about it. And he loves to follow me around grossing me out by showing me the wiggling teeth - and the aftermath.

Some how, Nolan learned to write his name. I know it was at school, because he told me so, but how does my little 3 year old already know how to write his name? How does he know that NOLAN means him . How do I have no babies left.

Pumpkin patch was this week, loved that as always. Everyone picks out the biggest pumpkin, and then Steve has to carry them back. And at least one is green, can't mess with tradition.

May I remember to write some more in the months to come as 2016 comes to an end. It had it's ups & downs, but my kids are happy and healthy.... I can't ask for more.

Grayson can Ride a bike

On our way home from school on Tuesday (5.24.16), Grayson said to me, "I need to learn how to ride a two wheeler for the boardwalk, when we go down the shore." I told him we could work on it with Daddy this weekend. That caused a fit, so I climbed into the attic, got his bike, took off the training wheels, had a neighbor put air in the tires, and prayed I could figure out how to help him learn.

Nolan was particularly clingy that day. Putting him down was not an option. Trying to hold a 40 lb. toddler & push Grayson along on his bike, when I couldn't keep up, was not possible. We tried twice, and then I was ready to give up.

Enter: Emily, a little girl that lives on the block. She told me, "I can teach him, don't worry." She is 8 and I couldn't imagine how this would turn out, but I was desperate. She took his bike, Grayson climbed on, she grabbed the back of the bike, pushed him ever so slightly, he started peddling, she let go... and that was it. He could ride a bike. I don't even think it took her 30 seconds. Amazing.

Grayson can ride a bike!

A Loose Tooth

Grayson has his first loose tooth.

This past Tuesday Grayson was very upset, he was beyond consolable. He claims to be the only kid in his kindergarten class that doesn't have a missing tooth.

Flash forward to last night, he comes barreling into the house in search of me. "Mommy! Look! My tooth is loose!" ... "Mommy, my wish came true."

It grosses me out, but I'm excited for him!

2016: 6 Years Later...

Grayson has turned six years old. He loves Minecraft, Pokémon, he has a new love for Star Wars, he enjoys school, kindergarten, and playing with his brother. He does puzzles now, and is writing sentences.

For his birthday we went bowling, to Toys R Us, we went to the mall, had Chinese food for lunch, and built bears. He bounced on the bouncy thing in the mall & he played outside with his friend. We finished the day of u with cake.

Sunday we found ourselves at Chuck E Cheese, followed by dinner at the grandparents.

His big gift was a laptop computer to play Minecraft on. He is one lucky kid!!

"Mommy, take our picture together"

And when Grayson said that, he was talking about him and his brother. And the picture is insanely cute.

Grayson is going to be 6 years old in 10 days. He loves Pokémon, he loves Minecraft. He loves playing board games & running around the house with Nolan like it's the funniest thing in the world to do. He loves to watch silly TV shows, and he loves to play with his Star Wars guys in the kitchen by himself. He enjoys being read to, and he is learning to read himself now.

Kindergarten is an exciting time for him. He is really getting into Math. He will just randomly ask me to listen to him count. One by one, or in tens, and even hundreds. He is doing well with learning to read, though still struggling with writing. Before I know it he will be doing all these things like they are second nature.

I think that 6 is going to be a fun year!!

It's 2016... I have a 3 year old & an almost 6 year old

Nolan just turned 3 years old. He loves trains, he lives and breaths them. It's basically all he got for Christmas. Thomas and Friends can do no wrong for him. We have two different types of train systems in the house, wooden rails are upstairs & his motorized trains are in the living room. They basically take up the whole living room.

Nolan still isn't potty trained. We are trying. He will sit, he did go (number 1) one time, we had an accident & that was the end of that. He tried again this morning when he woke up with a dry diaper I knew this was a sign. But nothing happened after 6-10 minutes of sitting.

He really has a temper. He gets very angry, very quickly. He just screams when he gets mad too. And he tries to hit sometimes. That part seems to be normal. And he normally doesn't actually hurt anyone. So that's good. But I hate the yelling.

Grayson - he is currently into Pokémon. trading cards are everywhere, and he would like his birthday party to be bowling with a Pokémon theme.

Minecraft is the other number one thing in his life. Always playing, or watching videos of other people playing. Oh, and LEGOS. There are more LEGOS than anything else in the house. And playing card games is a go-to right now. War and Go Fish.

Grayson is very sensitive. He cares quickly, he gets upset quickly, he worries what everyone else is going to think. The big problem with him is the not listening. If he his doing something and is asked to stop, he will laugh & not stop many times. And he will keep at it up until the point he gets yelled at. And then he cries because he is very sensitive. And I worry that he worries he is yelled at "all the time", but I can only repeat myself so many times to stop doing something before I yell. I really can have a short fuse.

Overall I have happy and healthy kids. I worry they aren't learning enough, or doing enough. And I guess that's normal. I'm hoping that 2016 is a great year for them!
