Truck

This is the most commonly used word in my house right now. Even though Grayson and I spend less time together a day then I do I work (at least Monday-Friday), I still hear this one word spoke at least 1 million times during that period.

Every truck on the road, on the TV, being pushed around on the floor - it must be known by all, at all times that that Truck is there. I would even go so far as to say this is his favorite word.

I'm mainly writing about this because I never want to forget it & I want to be able to tell my son someday that nothing gave him more enjoyment than running around the house yelling "TRUCK" at the top of his lungs.

Kids do Say the Craziest things!

When Steve & I are talking to Grayson about each other we say "mommy and daddy". I'm sure most parents do. But if I'm talking to my husband, Grayson around or not, I normally call him "hun". Well last night was taco night in our house and this is a favorite of Grayson's because he loves cheese. Can't get enough. "Cheese?" goes my kid. "Hey hun, since you are up, can you get Grayson some cheese?"

"Hun - cheese. Hun - cheese. Hun - cheese." is what I heard for the next 5 minutes. The tears were rolling down my face I was laughing so hard.

Well after dinner ended & it was winding down time before bed Grayson asked to watch his favorite show, The Fresh Beat Band. He calls it "Mm-Bop" for short as that is what they sing in one of their regular songs.

"Mm-bop hun? Mm-bop hun?" ... the harder I laughed the more he said it. He thought he was the funniest person on earth. And you know what? Last night he was.

20 Months Old!

Today Grayson is 20 months old. I honestly don't know where the time went to. I'm sitting here at my desk and I'm looking at pictures of him from this time last year, and he is completely a different person now.

Walking, running, jumping, talking constantly, learning something new everyday.

It is still hard to imagine that 4 months from now I'm going to be helping him blow out the candles on his 2nd birthday cake. He loves Elmo, so I'm thinking of an Elmo related birthday theme for this party, and I'm sure it will be a huge hit for him! I have a feeling that I'm going to be caring a lot more about this party then the first one. He didn't know what was going on last year, but this year - while he might not remember it - he is going to have an amazing day.

But I think I am getting ahead of myself at this point. First comes his 2nd Halloween, then 2nd Thanksgiving & Christmas before we can get to celebrate the 2 years he has been with us!

So for now I'm off to enjoy him & tell him how much I have loved him for the past 20 months he has been around.

He Sounds Like A Sim!

Have you ever played a SIMS game? You know, you build houses, people and then "live their lives" for them. Have you ever really listened to them talk? They don't use real words, and they have their very own language that is really funny to hear.

Well, this is Grayson now. Don't get me wrong he has a very large and strong vocabulary. Easily has 50+ words and he is stringing together 3 word sentences. He is doing amazing for a little man who will be 20 months in a week.

But, then there is when he is playing and just starts talking, in long "sentences" and he totally thinks he is saying real words. But he isn't, he really sounds like a SIM character.

It is way funny. I should really get it on video so I can show him in 10 years how silly he was. Watching him talk, learn and explore is just so fascinating to me. The hard part is sometimes he will turn to me and "talk" to me in his SIM talk, and I feel so terrible that I just don't understand or know what he needs. But it seems that every day he is learning a new word, and before we know it he will be normal kid with normal communication skills.

So, for now I will sit back and watch the game of life in front of me!
