Pinkeye Hell
Well, after having pinkeye 2 weeks ago, and then seemingly getting it again on Monday, we have finally decided that an eye doctor will better suit our little man and his needs.
After spending most of my day trying to get an appointment for Grayson at a specialists office in short notice, we finally get in at 3pm yesterday. The doctor takes one look, "There is no pinkeye. See how his eye is white and not red? There is no contagious infection here."
WHAT?!?! So, I have had my kid out of school all damn week for nothing?
A dye test in his eyes showed that he has a clogged tear duct. We are going to massage the eye, keep giving an antibiotic on the area to ward any infections, and put atificial tear goop around his eye for 1 month.
If none of this helps he will have surgery to unclog the duct. We don't have the date yet, but we will soon. Hopefully we won't need it and I will get to cancel that appointment. That would be the best thing ever. But, I'm planning for all worst cases here because if we waited a month, went back and saw that it didn't work, we would have to wait 3-4 weeks for a surgery appointment. I don't want this going on any longer than it has to, one more month sounds like torture enough for me.
At 4:50pm we finally left the doctors office, me looking like a very upset and disheveled mother, and on my arm a cranky and crying baby. I also left with a doctor's note for school that pretty much says, "stop sending him home - it's not pinkeye". Hopefully that will keep me in work for a whole month without having to use more PTO time!
